It is with great pleasure and excitement that I am announcing the opening of our new MONTESSORI Primary Age (Preschool & Kindergarten) classroom at Little Ones Too Preschool, Nursery & Montessori School this past September 2016! This upcoming September 2017 we will also be offering a brand-new toddler Montessori program for children 18-36 months old.  For those of you who are not familiar with what Montessori truly is I recommend looking at the American Montessori Society website (www.amshq.org). For now I can give you some basic information in regards to what it is.

Defined by the American Montessori Society, Montessori is “a unique educational approach that nurtures a child’s intrinsic desire to learn. Montessori focuses on the whole child—his cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development. Montessori education is right for children of any age… In a Montessori environment, children learn by exploring and manipulating specially designed materials. Each material teaches one concept or skill at a time, and lays a foundation from which students can comprehend increasingly abstract ideas. Children work with materials at their own pace, repeating an exercise until it is mastered. The teacher may gently guide the process, but her goal is to inspire rather than instruct. Throughout the classroom, beautifully prepared, inviting curriculum areas contain a sequential array of lessons to be learned. As students work through the sequence, they build and expand on materials and lessons already mastered. And all the while they are developing qualities with which they’ll approach every future challenge: autonomy, creative thinking, and satisfaction in a job well done.”

I am proud to introduce to you the Montessori Teachers. Mrs. Stephanie McCarthy has been working in the Education field for the past 23 years. In 2010 she began working in the Montessori environment specifically. Her education consists of a Bachelor in Science with a major in Education. Her minors were in English and social studies. She received her “Montessori Assistant Teacher Training” in 2013 and her “Montessori Head Teacher Training” through the North American Montessori Center in 2014. Based on her references; she is a warm hearted, trustworthy woman with a passion and talent for educating children.  Miss. Colleen Labuski has an extensive amount of experience in the field of Montessori Education. She started out as an Assistant Teacher in a Montessori School in 2001. Ms. Colleen then transferred to the same local Montessori Child Care Center as Ms. Stephanie; where she was an Assistant Teacher as well as a Head Teacher. She is CPR certified, First Aid Certified and has her Medication Administration Training Certification. Ms. Colleen is currently an undergraduate student at St. Rose College with a major in Early Childhood Education. Her references state that she is the most warm, loving, creative woman and mother, that is very talented when it comes to educating children, especially in the Montessori way. These two ladies have been working side-by-side for many years and I feel very fortunate to now have them on my staff as a team.

The rate for the Montessori classroom is a monthly rate that is formulated per each individual family based on utilization of services and hours needed. The Montessori fees are monthly rather than weekly because the Montessori day is equivalent to private school enrollment. This is a 10 month program but enrichment classes would always be offered during the “off” weeks. The hours are as follows: OPTIONAL Montessori AM drop off (7:30am-8:30am), full day Montessori program (8:30am-3:00pm); required for kindergarten enrollment, OPTIONAL Montessori aftercare early pickup (3:00-4:15) or OPTIONAL Montessori aftercare late pick-up (3:00-5:30). Below are the associated fees.

Primary Program:
Half day (4 hrs) 8:30 – 12:30 $6,620
Full day (6.5 hrs) 8:30 – 3:00 $9,950
